Having a service dog can be one of the most helpful things that will ever happen in your life. There are few things that can help with anxiety, disabilities, and vision impairment quite like having a service dog. When you are trying to make new friends, having a service dog can also make a very big difference.

Service dogs can help with social anxiety.

A huge issue that can cause you to struggle when making friends is social anxiety. When you have social anxiety, it can be difficult to approach new people. If you have a service animal, you may find that your social anxiety is lessened. Your service animal will be able to help you feel safe and secure in any situation. Once you are able to face your social anxiety, it will be so much easier for you to meet new people.

Everyone loves to meet a dog.

When you are out on the town with your dog, you will be surprised at how many people will want to meet them. This will give you a great opportunity to meet many new types of people. You will have opportunity after opportunity to meet people who are first attracted to your dog. There may even be chances for you to get dates out of the new people you meet. Simply put, if you are going out there with your dog, you are going to be able to meet a whole lot more people than you would be meeting without your service dog.

You can connect with other dog owners.

There is an unspoken bond between dog owners. When you are both out with your dogs, you will instantly have something in common. Your dogs are obviously going to want to meet each other. This could be a great opportunity to meet others who are dog owners easily during your daily routines. You may find that some of your best friendships can be started with the bond of your mutual love for dogs. Connecting with fellow dog owners is so much easier than just trying to start a random conversation with someone who you know nothing about.

Service dogs will help you get out of the house to meet new people.

Your service dog can help you get out of the house whether you are fully blind or just have mild anxiety. Routine care for dogs includes daily walks or light exercise. This can act as a great way to meet new people, and try new things. Your furry friend will help you get out of the house on a regular basis, and will push you to a whole new level of activity no matter how severe your condition may be.

Service dogs can be your best friends.

While it is great to make friendship with your fellow man, sometimes your service dog can be your best friend. You will find that there is a great deal of companionship that comes when you have a service dog. You will spend nearly all of your time with them, and they will become one of, if not your closest, bonds that you have in the world. The more time you spend with your service dog, the stronger your friendship will become. You will realize that, even if you feel lonely and as though you have a lack of friends, you are never truly alone when you have a dog.

As long as you are open to making new friends, your service dog is going to make that endeavor very easy. You will find that there are so many opportunities for new friendships when you always have a dog around. Also, never forget that one of your best friends around can be your service dog. This is something that will help you to feel less alone, and much happier overall, even if you are struggling to make friends at the moment. When you go out with your furry friend, you will see just how easy it is to make friends with your dog around.
