The Story of How One Pack Came to Be

12 legs. 6 eyes. And three big hearts.

About three and a half years ago, my partner and I moved in together following our first year anniversary. It was momentous for both of us because we both knew we found the person we would stay with until we're dead. She'd chuckle at that statement because we joke that we are dead inside already. #deadinsidememesFTW

Shortly after we moved into a 2 bedroom apartment fully outfitted with a brand new kitchen, beautiful hardwood floors and balcony that could fit 10 people; We knew we wanted to get a puppy. Well... She knew she wanted a puppy. And I loved her. So, being the emotionally supportive and awesome boyfriend that I was, of course I wanted to get a puppy too.

After scouring the inter-web using buy and sell sites tailored to animals, constantly looking at re-homing shelters and Kijiji, we found our perfect little girl.

Our Oldest

Harley came to us while searching Kijiji in the animal sale section from a family that couldn't keep her due to landlord issues. Her original name was Kali, a Chihuahua/Jack Russel Mix. We were not a fan of the name and we're huge superhero people so we went with the infamous villainous name, Harley Quinn.

She responds to it, when she's not making you look like a lunatic in times she runs off her leash as you yell, "Harley Quinn! HARLEY! QUINN! Get your butt back here!"

Harley is rambunctious, energetic and a fire cracker in every way. She is also extremely smart, loving, and the most communal dog I've ever met.

About 6 months later, Harley and her mom went for a drive with a friend to a local dog park. Being new dog parents and providing our girl with as much love and care as possible was our top concern and priority but... you can't always be prepared for the unseen...

The car's windows stay at half mast now.

Harley went for an unforeseen tumble out of our car when half of her body rode top heavy on the backseat window. She was banged up pretty bad and had ruptured some blood vessels in her eyes. She also had deep gashes on the top of her head, mouth and legs.

After our emergency trip to the vet's office we were reassured that she would be fine and okay to go home the next day. Poor girl. She looked to be in pretty bad shape.

When we brought her home, my girlfriend and I found ourselves catering to every wimper and shrug this little pup gave out.

"Babe, she needs water. Hun, get a blanket. Let's make her some eggs, maybe she'll eat."

It was like having a real life child and for all intents and purposes, she is. She is our daughter and we did what we needed to do to make sure she felt safe and secure.

Now, I had never "needed" to cater to anyone but myself. I was 24 and took care of myself for years with having to worry about other people, or in this case a dog. I found myself readjusting my thinking to a critical level and was continuously asking myself, "What can I do to make this better for her?"

This was my first lesson in becoming a more patient person.

Harley's accident showed me that life can be guided on a path that will restore health, make you stronger, smarter and wiser. She's great now. Everything has healed up and she bosses out everyday! #Xfactorpuppy

She Cool Now B-)

"Das a good smoosh!"

The TWINS!

Meet Barry Allen and Jessi Quick

If you're still here, you can tell we're really big superhero people.

After having Harley for a year, I told my girlfriend that I wanted my own dog. A boy. I wanna do guy stuff like throw the ball around and take him out for ice cream. The usual!

So we began our search again online and found a new litter of puppies about 45 minutes away from us. We thought, "PUPPIES!? We have to see them!" Literally, Barry was one week old when I met him.

"Human, you're invading my personal space."

"What are you doing to me human? Leave my back alone. You're weird."-Barry Allen

Barry's breed is a Cavalier Spaniel/ Miniature Pincer. His mom has curly hair and was thin and his dad was buff with a literal, phat ass.

Barry wasn't always Barry either. His original name was, Shifty Capone. The guy selling him to us said he named him that because he was always trying to get away from the litter.

I found my dog!

We had to wait several weeks before we could pick him up and that brings us to the early weeks of September.

Like Christmas Morning But With Puppy Kisses

The one behind Barry went to a good home, just not our home.

The day was finally here. The day we went to pick up Barry.

We get there and the seller was telling us that all his shots are up to date and he's healthy. He's ready to go home with you guys and thank you for being a perfect fit for him.

Then he tells us that not all of the puppies had homes yet. We asked which one and he points to a little Rottweiler looking thing on the edge of the grass. "That one," he pointed. We looked over and seen her.

Would you say NO!?

Jessi Quick snuggles and explores.

Meet Jessi Quick. Barry's youngest sibling and most trusted friend.

The seller went on telling us that he had no home for her and if he didn't find one by the end of the day, he would have to give her to the local shelter.

Um, what? Hold up. *Phone comes out* Thwip! *Enters pass-code into phone*

"How much do you want for her?" I ask.

"Brother, I'll give her to you for an extra hundred bucks on top of what you're paying for Shifty."

"Deal. I'll be right back."

I raced to the nearest bank and took out the sufficient funds to pay for both puppies who were now settled in a kennel they shared in our car and on their way to meet their big sister, Harley Quinn.

That Shine Though

Took 20 pictures just to get one decent one

And that's the story of how we got our pack. Harley snuggles with the twins now. They all share things and play and have fun!

I'm happy I can call these guys my family because without them, I believe, I wouldn't be the considerate, happy and loving person I turned out to be today.
