A Golden Retriever Pup🐶

Hello there! My name is Belle and this is my day.

6:30 AM - I wake up. I stretch out my legs because they have been curled up all night during my sleep. I have a small roll around on the floor in an attempt to wake me up. I then walk around and sniff my surroundings to try and find my breakfast whilst I wait for my human. I like to sniff out my breakfast to save my human a job, however, I can never seem to find it! Luckily, my human always gives me breakfast when she is ready.

7:00 AM - Around this time my human wakes up and comes down the stairs to me. I get very excited when I hear her coming down the stairs, sometimes she doesn't like this but I just can't help myself. She gives me a fuss and strokes behind my ears (my favourite spot), before opening the door to the garden. I run outside to get some fresh air and empty my bladder. When I was a puppy I was always praised after emptying my bladder in the garden so every time I am let outside I try to empty my bladder because this makes my human happy! I then run back inside and my human puts my breakfast down on the floor and tells me to wait. I sit next to my food and look at it until she says "Good girl, go on," which I have worked out means that I can eat my breakfast. This was very hard for me to learn as a youngster because I was always so excited to eat! But I realised my human is happier and doesn't get upset with me if I wait, so that is what I do.

7:30 AM - After my breakfast my human usually has her own breakfast. I try to ask to have some of hers by looking at her, but this is hard because I can't speak. Sometimes I get too close and she tells me off but I was just trying to smell it, I don't mean to upset her! I then usually curl up on the floor in front of the fireplace and watch her from a distance. She seems to like this better.

8:00 AM - My human has finished her breakfast and goes back into the kitchen to put her bowl somewhere high. I jump up and follow her in case there is a chance she may give me some leftovers but this is very rare. She strokes my head again and then goes back upstairs. I go back into the living room and curl up on the floor and have a very short nap.

8:30 AM - Usually around this time my human comes back downstairs and puts on her shoes and coat. I run up to her in anticipation of a walk which is very common in the morning. (Although I do get excited whenever she puts her coat on just in case she will remember to take me with her!) She tells me to calm down but I'm just very excited and find this hard. She gets my lead and tells me to sit. Sometimes this is hard for me but I always do it eventually because I have learnt that if I don't I don't get to go on my walk :( We then head out on our walk (my favourite part of the day).

9:30 AM - After an hour or so of walking around our local area and meeting my friends we come home. This is when my human's human friend comes down! I run up to him and he strokes my head but he doesn't know my favourite spot so he just strokes the top of my head, which I am still grateful for. I then go and lie down in the living room or on my bed.

12:00 PM - After lying on the floor, stretching out, running around the garden, and sniffing around the kitchen, it is lunch time! My human sets out my lunch. This is a smaller portion of my breakfast and dinner but I am still very excited to eat it. She sets it down in front of me and tells me to wait. I sit by my food and look up at her until she says "Good girl, go on," just like at breakfast. I then dig into my lunch.

1:00 PM - Sometimes my human or my human's human friends will play with me. If I grab a toy and take it over to them they will pull on the toy and we play tug of war. Or if it is sunny, they throw a ball and I run and fetch it and take it back to them. This is my favourite game because it can go on for hours but we never play it in the house. I try to get them to play but they replace the ball with one of my cuddles. I don't know why.

5:00 PM - Much later on, after my usual routine of lying on the floor, stretching out, running around the garden, and sniffing around the kitchen, it is finally dinner time! This is my favourite eating time because I get to cuddle afterwards. As usual, my human sets out my food in front of me and tells me to wait. I sit there and look up at her until she says "Good girl, go on," and then I can eat. Once I have eaten, I curl up on the floor of the kitchen whilst my two humans eat their dinner. After dinner my humans cuddle on the sofa and watch TV. I like to jump up with them, but only when I am invited up. I put my head on the sofa which means that I want to jump up. If they tap the sofa it means I can come up but if not I must stay on the floor. Either way I usually fall asleep.

7:00 PM - Throughout the evening I usually fall in and out of sleep, play with my toys, and sniff the kitchen. Sometimes my human likes to practice 'tricks' with me. I'm not sure what this means but that's what she calls it. I like this because I get to use my brain and also get some extra snacks. Recently I have been trying to learn 'bang.' I think I am supposed to collapse on the floor when she says 'bang' but sometimes I'm not quick enough.

11:00 PM - Around his time both of my humans go back upstairs. Occasionally I am allowed to sleep upstairs with them but most of the time I sleep in the living room on my bed. And then my routine starts all over again. ❤
