Cats Are Smarter Than You Think

My Personal Experience with a Smart Cat

Many people don’t actually realize how smart cats really are until they’ve owned one and that’s why most people prefer dogs than cats. There are so many perks to owning a cat over a dog! However, that is not what I’m here to talk about today. Everyone believes that cats are just lazy animals that attack people thanks to the cartoons on TV! But I’m here to share my experience of owning a cat, not just any dumb old lazy cat, but a smart cat!

My cat is 11 years old and is probably the smartest and funniest cat I’ve known. Normally cats don’t have a daily routine, but my cat sure does. First things first at the crack of dawn he always knows when it’s time for someone to feed him exactly at six in the morning. He then finds the most comfortable but unique spots around the house to take a nap for a few hours. There have been times when I have found him in baskets, under blankets, or on the armrest of a chair. Honestly, would you rather have dogs who make messes in your home, and you have to actually take time out of your day to walk them? I didn’t think so. And that is another example of how cats are truly smart because they know when they have to exercise and they usually only do it for a good five minutes before they get tired and go back to sleep and not bother you. Then when it’s finally around five in the afternoon, my cat starts to get hungry again and begs us to feed him! Once he’s happy and fed he waits for us to complete our dinner to go and follow us around until we end up watching TV or going to bed. He will then either sleep on our beds with us or lay on the couch next to us for the rest of the night.

My cat is an indoor cat but he knows there’s something more to this world than just inside a house. So he begs us to take him outside so he can smell every single thing that crosses his path! My cat knows when people are upset, or tired, so he tends to follow them around and give them company. He’s got an adventurous personality because he’s always meowing at me and my family when he wants to go outside. He even scratches at the door whenever it’s gorgeous outside and he wants to go out and explore. Once he’s outside, he doesn’t go very far because he knows that if he does he’ll go right back inside, so he tends to explore in a small, secluded area on the patio or porch. Another example of how greatly wise cats really are is that they can sense the emotions of people and they are very great supporters when it comes to hard times. Cats also happen to know when you’re leaving for a long time such as a vacation. They know not only because of all the suitcases but they know when you’re about to leave them behind. They start to become more affectionate with you and don’t want to ever leave your side. Cats come to very good use whenever someone lets a bug inside. There have been times when my cat has killed flies and even bees that invade our home. He can even see tiny ants whenever they get inside our house and squish them. He is our own living fly swatted, now if only cats were able to use the toilet in the house by themselves without being trained to do so, then I would say that cats are definitely smarter than humans. Cats are no Einstein but at least we can say that they sure are a heck of a lot smarter and cuter than dogs!
