Finding the right dog can be a lengthy, overcomplicated process, as a mass of inescapable thoughts will fill your mind. What type of dog am I looking for? Do I want a small dog? A large dog? One that is independent? One that cuddles? This list is endless. As a tenured dog owner, I have a worthwhile piece of a advice for all potential buyers. Skip the searching process and buy a Goldendoodle. I'll tell ya why.

Goldendoodles come in a variety of sizes and colors.

Since Goldendoodles are a cross-breed between poodles and golden retrievers, their size and color vary depending on that of their parents. If you're a young city dweller and inhabit a pocket-sized apartment, miniature Goldendoodles are an ideal choice. If you're looking for a larger canine to accompany your sizable family, Goldendoodles still have you covered. Whether you're in the market for a dog that has a curly coat, a straight coat, one that is brown, white, or gold, look no further than this top tier breed.

Goldendoodles do not shed and are hypoallergenic.

Doodles inherit their non-shedding coat from their poodle ancestor, and subsequently they do not induce allergies. For those who have never owned a dog because they dread the constant sneezing and tearing the comes with it, you're in luck. Even if you don't suffer from dog allergies, the fact that these dogs do not shed is a huge win. Shedding sucks. I don't believe anyone who tells me otherwise. The coats on these beauties are unparalleled. They're soft, silky, and they stay on their bodies.

Goldendoodles are undoubtedly good looking.

C'mon, look at those features!! What constitutes as good looking is subjective, but when it comes to Goldendoodles, it would be sacrilegious for any dog lover to deny their impressive features. While Goldendoodles come in various shapes and sizes, as mentioned earlier, they all inherit their adorably floppy ears from golden retrievers and their humanlike mustache from poodles.

Best of Both Worlds

Here's the biggy. In addition to scoring a 10/10 in exterior features, Goldendoodles have a favorable personality and an even-tempered behavior. This is because they inherit the top qualities from their progenitors. Here's a list of some of their noticeable traits and where they come from.

Traits via Poodle
  • Highly intelligent
  • Protective
  • Social
  • Obedient
Traits via Golden Retriever
  • Easily-trained
  • Affectionate
  • Playful
  • Gentle

A dog that is intelligent AND affectionate? Playful AND obedient? Protective AND gentle? Goldendoodles are truly super dogs. You get what you pay for.

My Experience

Growing up, I've had various breeds of pets. I have owned a Maine Coon cat, a Cockatiel bird, and two Yorkie dogs. They were all great pets and were distinctive in their own ways. However, after recently purchasing my second Goldendoodle in March, I've officially come to the realization that I will never invest in a different breed. You ever have that day where you're just so fed up with your dogs and their untimely antics? Yeah, not me. Not a day goes by where I'm not enjoying my dogs' company. Both of my Doodles are loyal, playful, and easy to take care of. What more can you ask for?

In any way you look at it, Goldendoodles truly are a top-tier breed. From their good looks to their charming personality, these dogs will have you head over heels from the moment you meet them. If you are looking for a new best friend, look no further.
