Most parents would agree that by investing in the best possible education, their kids would receive as many benefits as possible, which would in the long run help them get better jobs. Most people, parents or not, who work are quite familiar with the value of professional training and development. It is often necessary to acquire new skills and knowledge in order to either get promoted or even keep the job. So, can the same be said about dog training?

Well, the situation is similar in many aspects. The better you train your dog, the more obedient it will be. That also means you’ll be able to do many things together and it will also be welcome to many places that don’t accept untrained dogs. Still not convinced? Let’s take a look at the following reasons why investing in your dog’s training is worthwhile.

Your house will be cleaner.

If you consider the fact that a puppy needs to pee every hour when it’s awake, it’s easy to imagine what kind of mess your home will be if you don’t have it potty-trained. Also, you can’t expect it to simply understand why there is a box with some litter in it in the corner of the room. Nor will it understand when you try to explain to it that you’re tired of cleaning up the mess. So, don’t waste precious moments, but train your puppy or have it trained to do its business outdoors as soon as possible.

Discourage them from biting.

All dog owners know how big a problem it can be if your dog is only too happy to bite. Even those dogs that are normally calm might be provoked into biting another animal or a person. Whether they do it because they feel threatened or for some other reason is completely irrelevant. Training your dog to inhibit biting is crucial when they are still young. You might have a problem if your four-legged friend has already developed this habit, but even older dogs can be trained by a proper expert.

Teach them to come.

Another thing you should teach your dog as soon as possible is to come when you call it. If you don’t do it, there is no way it will come back to you once it starts playing with other dogs on a wide Australian beach or chasing birds. Why would it? To be put back on the leash and deprived of fun? That’s why you have to teach your puppy to come right at the start. If you don’t feel like you are making any progress, consult an expert in efficient dog training from Sydney. This skill might be a lifesaver, too, since it will help you keep your dog away from busy streets and roads.

Prevent noise.

Some dogs howl and whine for various reasons. You can rest assured that such behaviour is not approved by anyone around you. Puppies usually do that because they have been removed from their mothers and it’s a way to show they are afraid and insecure. Training your dog and instilling confidence in it will see your dog perfectly happy even when left alone for a longer period.

Prevent jumping on other people.

Dogs, especially young ones, like to greet people by jumping on them. This is interpreted as heartwarming by some, but there are also many of those who don’t appreciate this gesture. That is perfectly okay and you have to understand that children and older people, in particular, may find it threatening. What’s more, your dog may knock them over and cause serious injury or trauma. So, teach your dog that there are other ways of showing affection and friendliness.

Keep barking under control.

It’s true that dogs usually bark when they are upset, afraid or as a sign of warning, but they also sometimes do it for fun, particularly if they weren’t properly trained when they were young. The problem with barking often comes as a result of your dog being left alone in the house for many hours. What starts as a cry for attention, easily turns into a fun, recreational activity. That’s why you should arm yourself with patience and work on nipping this problem in the bud.

As you can see, giving your dog proper training will make your and your dog’s life much more pleasant. You’ll be able to engage in all sorts of activities without making anyone feel intimidated or annoyed by your dog’s behaviour. That means many more pleasant memories created together and much more time to appreciate each other’s company.
