Adding to your Family

Mary Before Delivery

When Mary became part of our family, she offered something very special. She was rejected by her birth mother and had to be bottle-fed by her mother's owner. She was the runt of the litter. The time came for her to be adopted out and happily she was given to a couple of men that saw her and had no problem giving up $400 for a blue fawn pit bull puppy. She was happy and healthy until the men were evicted, leaving her and other pets alone in the apartment until they could find somewhere to go. They didn't find a place to go...

Two weeks went by before the men came back. Mary was left in the cage the entire time with limited amount of food and no water. It was a miracle she even survived.

Mary Moving Into Our Hearts and Home! Welcome Home Mary!

Seeing an opportunity that couldn't be passed, an offer was made to take the dog off their hands, so they wouldn't have to worry about what happens to her. They were also offered open visitation. After all her things were moved in, she was all ours, and the men were seen, but not once did they ever return to check on the dog they loved.

After Mary's first birthday, she experienced her first heat. We then decided we would try our hands at breeding. Having a dog conversation with some fellow congregants at our church, the perfect match for Mary was found and his name is MJ. He was a little younger than Mary and a different breed of pit bull than her.

Once introduced, the two would spend two fun-filled weeks together until they were intertwined and stuck together. Mary was presumed pregnant and treated as such until her delivery.

The New Additions

Mary adapted to being a mother easily and was very nurturing to her pups. She took excellent care of them. Her delivery was a complete success. She gave birth to eight healthy pups. Only one out of the litter didn't survive the birth.

At about two weeks, when their eyes began to really process everything, their individual personalities started to emerge. At this point, everyone was given a name, the first set of shots are ordered, and they get their first wipe down.

Once they reach the one month mark, it's a whole different ball game. You definitely should have baby-proofed everything below the knee. Inquisitive puppies love to investigate.

At six weeks, it was time to give shots, and find homes. The two females, not pictured, were the first ones to find homes.

All, but two of the pups, found suitable homes and lived happily ever after. Here is a picture of Mary, Judah, and Big Boi today...
