When considering a new addition to your family, discovering the most loyal dog breeds might help you decide which dog would fit your family the best.

From Labrador Retrievers to Boxers, each of these dog breeds are most known for being completely dedicated to their owners. As one of the most desired characteristics of a dog, each of these dogs are well known for being loyal, and being adorable.

German Shepherd

To begin our list of the most loyal dog breeds, German Shepherds are at the top. Most known to be smart, confident pets that are incredibly loyal, they are a true dog lover's dog.

Great with children, the German Shepherd breed is easy to train, as they are very eager to please their owners. A beautiful dog, the German Shepherd is a medium-sized dog, which grows to about 24 to 26 inches, and weighs 65 to 90 pounds. A faithful companion, this dog will certainly fit the man's best friend role.

Labrador Retriever

Next, on our list of the most loyal dog breeds is the Labrador Retriever. Also one of the best breeds for therapy dogs, they are ranked the #1 breed by the American Kennel Club. They are extremely friendly to not only their owner, but other dogs, strangers, and other animals.

Meant to be a family dog as well as a therapy assistant, the Labrador Retrievers are loyal companions, as well as great fetchers, and easily taken to populated areas. Energetic and friendly, these dogs are ideal for the typical family looking for love and someone to give affection to.

Beagle

Beagles, too, are loyal companions that have a ton of personality; and they're super cute. The breed was first bred to hunt in packs. However, today, they fit in great with any family. They are happy-go-lucky, and fill the home with a ton of fun, with loyalty to boot.

Solid, easy to care for, and sturdy, these dogs have a very active energy level, and a very big personality. Plus, they're great with children and other dogs, and weigh under 20 pounds, growing up to 13 inches and under.

Kuvasz

Kuvasz is one of the most loyal dog breeds for their intense protectiveness. Practically fearless, Kuvasz will do anything for their owner, and are incredibly sweet and patient with their family.

And as a large dog that weighs often above 100 pounds, they are somewhat active, and much more energetic than most breeds that are similar in size. Growing up to 30 inches and weighing around 70 to 115 pounds, they can live up to 12 years, and are intensely loyal.

Collie

The Collie is known to be one of the most loyal breeds you can find, being completely devoted to their family. Also known to be proud and graceful, Collies are very active, and require a ton of daily exercise.

But on the flip side, they would also enjoy hanging out with the family for the rest of the day. Growing as big as 36 inches and 75 pounds, they can live up to 14 years old, and shed seasonally. They are vocal dogs, but ones that are very dedicated to their loyalty. Collies are a great family dog, and play well with children.

Boxer

The Boxer is yet another one of the most loyal dog breeds, portraying some of the most fun-loving personalities than you can find in a dog. Active and loyal, the boxer is strong and quick, requiring a ton of exercise and play time.

A smart breed that lives well with children, boxers are easily trained, and very easy to discipline. Growing as tall as 25 inches, they can live up to 12 years and weight up to 80 pounds. As a dog that enjoys a challenge, and will love its owners unconditionally, this is the perfect addition to your family.

Dachshund

Dachshunds, or "hot-dog" dogs, have incredibly friendly personality, and loyalty like no other. A dog that plays well with children and is moderately active, dachshunds are most known for their long and low bodies, an extremely adorable breed for their build.

One of the most popular breeds according to the Registration Statistics of the American Kennel Club, these dogs can either be smooth, wirehaired, or longhaired. Easy to train and extremely intelligent, these dogs will certainly be loyal to their family.

Brittany

The Brittany breed is yet another adorable dog that is known for their beautiful coat, marked with white and orange patterns. As one of the most loyal dog breeds, these dogs are strong, smart, and energetic.

Fun-loving and enthusiastic, Brittanys will always have a favorite human, and remain loyal to them their whole lives. Eager to please when being trained, this breed grows to 20 inches tall and 50 pounds heavy. Plus, they are strong and rugged, while still being combated with their soft and sweet faces.

Golden Retriever

Working as search and rescue dogs, hunters, and guide dogs, Golden Retrievers are certainly devoted companions. Growing to 24 inches and 75 pounds, these pups can live up to 12 years, a life full of love and compassion.

Great Pyrenees

Last, but not least, on our list of the most loyal dog breeds, is the Great Pyrenees. Described as majestic, the pup is one of the biggest dog breeds in the world and can grow up to 32 inches tall, and weighing well over 100 pounds.

A calm and patient dog that loves affection, this dog is very smart and works well with children. Somewhat active, and loving a nice long walk, these dogs are independent, but still incredibly loyal. A big bundle of love, Great Pyrenees will fit perfectly into any loving family.
